Public transport is a greener and cheaper alternative to travelling via private car. When you consider the running costs of owning a car – including tax, insurance, fuel and maintenance – you can make great savings by opting to hop on the bus, while also helping the planet.

There are two key services that operate along the A379 – the number 7 from Exeter to Totnes and the number 39 from Exeter to Newton Abbot. These services run frequently to the city centre, every 20–25 minutes. If you want to travel further afield, the X38 goes all the way to Plymouth and back five times a day Monday to Saturday, and three times on a Sunday.

Depending on where you live, you might find your local bus stops operating the above services are at Peamore Lodge and Garden centre on the A379 to the south of the A3 or the Matford Park and Ride at Marsh Barton. If you’re further north, you might find your nearest bus stops are on Shillingford Road or Chantry Meadow, in which case, the ‘A’ bus travels to the city centre via St Thomas rail station every half an hour.
